Recalls of STIHL products
STIHL Limited has issued a product safety recall for BR 800 C-E and BR 800 X backpack blower models due to a possible fan wheel molding defect that could result in the fracture of the fan wheel during operation of the blower. This could pose a potential risk of injury to the operator or bystanders during use.
The defect may be present in BR 800 models with a serial number within the listed ranges.

Please check the serial number located on the tag affixed to the shoulder housing, just above the angled blower outlet tube section. If your serial number is within the ranges listed above, please stop using it immediately and bring it back to your servicing STIHL dealer for inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the fan wheel. There is no cost for this inspection and repair. Machines with serial numbers outside this range are not included in the recall.
Certain BR 800 C-E and BR 800 X blowers have been previously inspected by STIHL and marked with a black dot on the serial number label (see image above right). Any BR 800 blower within the serial number ranges listed above and marked with the black dot as shown, is safe to continue using and no further action is required.

Recall Summary
Name of Product: STIHL BR 800 backpack blower
Hazard: The fan wheel inside the backpack blower can break apart, posing a laceration hazard.
Remedy: Repair. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled STIHL BR 800 backpack blower and bring it to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer for free inspection and replacement of the fan wheel, if necessary.
STIHL has detected anomalies at the chain brake system. Investigations showed that the normative requirements according to the chain braking time are not reliably fulfilled on some of the machines.
Therefore, in the event of a kickback, there may be an increased risk of injury to the user.
As a responsible manufacturer, STIHL has decided to issue a recall for the potentially affected machines and to replace the brake band and brake drum.
This affects certain machines that have a machine number below 447457319.
If you own an affected cordless chainsaw STIHL MSA 300, please stop using the machine immediately.
Please contact your local STIHL dealer for a repair. This repair is free of charge for you.
